The proposal is a future vision for the prime open spaces adjacent to the historic Castle, the most popular tourist-visiting site in Kyoto. The intent of the primary design is to re-create a public open space in front of the historic landmark for locals and tourists. Transformation of the existing parking lot into a park and urban plaza, filed with life, color and texture, will increase the quality of the landmark and the neighborhood, leading to revitalization of local economy.
